Health and safety
Section outline
-
The health and safety audit for secondary schools is now available. The audit, action plan and CLEAPSS links are all available in the file.
The Headteacher should complete the audit along with the Head of Design and Technology or equivalent. Any areas identified as requiring improvement will be added to an action plan tab. The Head of Design and Technology and Technicians must identify any actions that need to be taken before sign off and submission by BOTH the head teacher and head of design and technology.
Please note that the completion of this audit is compulsory for Hampshire maintained schools. A small number of randomly selected schools will receive a monitoring visit in the Autumn term, and failure to submit the audit could result in a formal Health and Safety monitoring visit in the new academic year.
This is not compulsory for non-maintained schools, but filling it in and returning will help build a bigger picture of the issues surrounding safe and effective practical work in Design and Technology across Hampshire, and we would appreciate your support with this.
Please read the information at the start of the audit carefully.
You should print and save a copy of your response. A copy should be kept by Head of Design and Technology/Technician and another copy lodged with the school’s Health and Safety Officer.
Your response also needs to be returned to Lori Hamlin Lori.Hamlen@hants.gov.uk, HIAS administrative support officer by Monday 22 June 2027.
If you have any queries regarding the audit process or completion of the health and safety audit, please contact Sarah Pook sarah.pook2@hants.gov.uk, HIAS Design and Technology Inspector/Adviser.
